Argentina needed to win this match to qualify for the Quarter finals following their narrow loss in round 1 to the French.
Some beautiful tactical kicking by Los Pumas had England second guessing in defence.
Argentina took first points and were determined to play sensible rugby. Quick hands from the English saw a try in the corner a few minutes later to take the game to 5 – 3 in favour of the English.
With the game in the balance, it was again foul play and the high tackle framework that took centre stage. Nigel Owens brandishing the Red Card to Tomas Lavanini for a high tackle. Condemning Argentina to play 62 minutes a player down.
It wasn’t until the 35th minute that England capitalised on their consistent overlap. But the damage was done, Argentina never recovered.
England we too strong, too well drilled, and are still haunted by their straight sets exit in 2015. England will go deep in this World Cup.
Final Score: England 39 – Argentina 10
