If ever there was a mismatch, this was it. Current world no. 1 New Zealand against world no. 23 Namibia.
After 35 minutes, it would be reasonable to expect the All Black to be lifting the bat, celebrating a solid half century off around 24 deliveries.
Instead the scores were 10 – 9 with an All Black in the sin bin.
This World Cup has produced some immense contests, but we were not expecting this to be one of them.
At half time the score was 17 – 9 and the Namibians were celebrating like it was full time. It wasn’t.
The second half was littered with tries galore, the All Blacks lifting a gear and the Namibians couldn’t keep up.
Running in 11 tries in total, the All Blacks restored order and all was right in the rugby world once more.
TJ Perenara scored a rippa in the corner in the dying stages, which will be up there for Try of the Tournament.
Final Score: New Zealand 71 – Namibia 9
